Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly butter a baking dish.
- Arrange sliced sweet onions evenly in the baking dish.
- Season onions with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder.
- Dot onions with butter pieces.
- Sprinkle shredded cheeses evenly over the onions.
- Cover loosely with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use sweet onions for best flavor. Serve hot.
