- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing until smooth.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until set but not browned.
- Cool slightly, then roll warm cookies in powdered sugar. Cool completely and roll again.
Notes
For best color, use gel food coloring and avoid overbaking.
