- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a baking dish.
- Mix blackberries, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and vanilla. Spread into baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in milk just until combined.
- Spoon topping over blackberry filling.
- Bake 40–45 minutes until golden and bubbling.
- Cool slightly before serving.

Best served warm with vanilla ice cream.
