Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine all apple filling ingredients. Toss to coat evenly.
- Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- In the same bowl, combine the oats, almond flour, nuts, coconut, cinnamon, and salt for the topping.
- Add the maple syrup and solid coconut oil (or butter) to the oat mixture.
- Use your fingers or a fork to mix until the topping is crumbly and evenly moistened.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apple filling.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes, until the filling is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
- Let the crumble cool for 15-20 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set.
Notes
For a crispier topping, ensure your coconut oil or butter is cold when mixing. A mix of tart and sweet apples yields the best flavor. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days.
