Irish Potato Farl

Ingredients
  

Potato Dough
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes cooled, plain
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 0.5 tsp salt

  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Place cooled mashed potatoes in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add flour, butter, and salt, mixing gently until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn dough onto a floured surface and pat into a round about ¾-inch thick.
  4. Cut the round into four triangular farls.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease if needed.
  6. Cook each farl for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Serve warm with butter or traditional Irish breakfast sides.

Notes

Use floury potatoes for best texture. Avoid adding milk to mashed potatoes.
