Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup strong brewed English Breakfast tea chilled (from 3 tea bags)
  • 1/2 cup cold milk or non-dairy alternative like oat milk
Optional Add-ins
  • 1-2 tsp simple syrup, honey, or maple syrup to taste
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1 slice lemon for garnish
  • 1 sprig fresh mint for garnish

Equipment

  • Kettle or saucepan
  • Heatproof pitcher or jar
  • Tall glass

Method

  1. Brew the tea concentrate by steeping 3 English Breakfast tea bags in 1 cup of boiling water for 5-7 minutes. Discard tea bags and chill the concentrate completely.
  2. Fill a tall glass to the top with ice cubes.
  3. Pour the chilled tea concentrate over the ice, filling the glass about 2/3 full.
  4. If using, add sweetener to the tea and stir to combine.
  5. Slowly pour the cold milk over the back of a spoon held at the surface of the tea to create a layered effect, or simply pour it in.
  6. Garnish with a lemon slice or mint sprig. Serve immediately with a straw.

Notes

For best results, brew and chill the tea concentrate ahead of time. Using large ice cubes prevents rapid dilution. Oat milk is highly recommended for its creamy, non-dairy texture.
