Ingredients

For the Salmon
  • 4 6-ounce salmon fillets skin-on or skinless
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon sliced into rounds
  • fresh dill or parsley for garnish
For the Honey Garlic Butter Sauce
  • 0.33 cup honey
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika optional

Equipment

  • Medium Baking Dish
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat salmon fillets dry and season with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice, and smoked paprika until smooth.
  3. Arrange lemon slices in a baking dish and place the seasoned salmon fillets on top.
  4. Generously spoon the honey garlic butter sauce over the salmon, reserving some for basting.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until salmon is opaque and flakes easily. Baste with reserved sauce halfway through.
  6. For a more caramelized top, broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching closely.
  7. Let rest for 2-3 minutes. Garnish with fresh herbs and spoon over the pan sauce before serving.

Notes

Do not overcook the salmon. It is done when it flakes easily but is still moist. For crispy skin, sear skin-on fillets in a hot skillet for 2-3 minutes before baking.
