Ingredients
  

Donut Dough
  • 3.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 0.75 cup warm milk
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
Glaze
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls

  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast in warm milk with sugar until foamy.
  2. Mix flour and salt, then add yeast mixture, eggs, butter, and vanilla to form dough.
  3. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let dough rise until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out and cut donut shapes.
  6. Allow donuts to rise again until puffy.
  7. Fry at 350°F until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Dip warm donuts into glaze and let set.

Notes

Maintain oil temperature for best texture. Best enjoyed fresh.
