Ingredients

Filling Layer
  • 1.5 cups diced cooked ham about 8 oz
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 0.33 cup finely diced onion
Batter
  • 1 cup Original Bisquick baking mix
  • 2 cups milk whole or 2% recommended
  • 4 large eggs
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp garlic powder optional
  • 0.25 tsp smoked paprika optional
  • chopped fresh parsley or chives for garnish, optional

Equipment

  • 10-inch Pie Plate
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring Cups/Spoons

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Generously grease a 10-inch pie plate.
  2. Evenly scatter the diced ham, shredded cheese, and diced onion in the bottom of the prepared pie plate.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk, eggs, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika (if using) until mostly smooth.
  4. Carefully pour the batter over the ham and cheese layer in the pie plate. Do not stir.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is deep golden brown, the center is completely set, and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove from oven and let the pie rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Letting the pie rest after baking is crucial for clean slices. Leftovers can be covered and refrigerated for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or oven.
