Ingredients

Slider Assembly
  • 1 package Hawaiian rolls or slider buns (12 count) do not separate
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 0.5 cup yellow onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp kosher salt plus more to taste
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper plus more to taste
  • 6 slices cheddar or Colby Jack cheese about 4-5 oz
Buttery Onion Glaze
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 2 tbsp yellow onion, finely minced or dried minced onion
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds optional
  • 0.25 tsp garlic powder

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Large skillet
  • Small saucepan
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing spoon

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice slider buns in half horizontally (keeping them connected). Place bottom half in a 9x13" baking dish.
  2. In a skillet, cook ground beef. Halfway through, add diced onion and garlic. Cook until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain fat.
  3. Season beef with Worcestershire, yellow mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well and remove from heat.
  4. Spread warm beef evenly over bottom bun layer in dish. Immediately layer cheese slices on top. Place top bun layer over the cheese.
  5. Make glaze: Melt butter in a saucepan. Whisk in minced onion, Worcestershire, Dijon, poppy seeds, and garlic powder until warm.
  6. Pour or brush all of the warm glaze evenly over the top buns, letting it soak into the seams.
  7. Cover dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake 5-10 mins more until buns are golden and cheese is melted.
  8. Let rest for 2-3 minutes, then slice into individual sliders. Serve warm.

Notes

For make-ahead, assemble through step 6, cover, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Bake as directed, adding a few extra minutes if cold from fridge. Customize with BBQ sauce, bacon, or different cheeses.
