Ingredients
  

Shortbread Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder optional
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 jalapeños finely diced
  • 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and shredded cheddar until smooth.
  4. Fold in diced jalapeños and optional cayenne pepper.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until soft dough forms.
  6. Roll dough to ½ inch thickness and cut into desired shapes.
  7. Optional: sprinkle extra cheddar or paprika on top.
  8. Bake 18–22 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool on wire rack.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store in airtight container up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
