Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 tilapia fillets about 6 oz each
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp paprika optional
  • 0.5 tsp salt or to taste
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper or to taste
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, for garnish

Equipment

  • Small Mixing Bowl
  • Baking dish

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat the tilapia fillets completely dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, melted butter, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Lightly grease a baking dish. Arrange the tilapia fillets in a single layer in the dish.
  4. Pour the lemon-garlic sauce evenly over the fillets, ensuring they are fully coated. Place the lemon slices on top of the fish.
  5. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. The cooking time will depend on the thickness of the fillets.
  6. Remove from the oven. Spoon the pan juices over the fillets and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Do not overcook the fish, as it will become tough. Check for doneness at the 10-minute mark. For a more golden top, broil for the final 1-2 minutes. Fresh lemon juice and garlic are highly recommended for the best flavor.
